Let’s Thank God Instead

NEVER underestimate the importance of praise. Praise is the only thing our creator cannot do for himself. That is why through praise, we invoke His intervention and visitation. Praise is the most powerful spiritual weapon we have.

Do you remember what happened to Jehoshaphat, King of Judah? Three prosperous and powerful kings came together to fight against Judah which was not as strong. Jehoshaphat, the king, took the matter to God. And the instruction was to organize his choir to file out to the war front in praise. Jehoshaphat won the war by praise as the three kings destroyed themselves. (2 Chronicles 20).

One of my brothers was coming from our office late one night. Unknown to him armed robbers were waiting in our compound. As he came down to open the gate, a gun was pointed at him, he struggled with them but they went away with the car and his valuables. I overheard his voice as he shouted thief! Thief! and then there was a gunshot. I was afraid. Immediately, my spirit told me your car has been taken away but your brother is alright, praise Me! “Praise Me!” was the instruction. Instantly I started the praise and there was noise at our gate. My brother escaped the gunshot. So as a family, we praised God together again. The necessary report was made at the appropriate police station that night. By the evening of the second day, our office was contacted with good news that the car had been found with all the valuables intact. The very presence of God comes on the scene with praise and there is usually confusion and terror at the camp of every enemy.

Towards the end of year 2007, God led me to invite women to join me in praying for this country. The word that came with the instruction was 2 Chronicles 7 Vs 14. At another time, God showed me a picture of Nigeria as being captured by an Octopus. The nation is trying to free herself but the more she tries to free herself, the more the (8) tentacles of the Octopus will not allow for her escape. I was made to know that the problems confronting Nigeria: Corruption, power failure, lack of continuity, self centeredness etc can be likened to the Octopus with its tentacles. But God is more powerful than the Octopus and its tentacles if mothers can come together in unity of mind to pray.

On Thursday 29, 2008 women after God’s heart with their husbands came together to intercede for Nigeria according to His instruction. This we have been doing every third Saturday of the month. You may ask what type of prayer. We pray as God leads. But basically we pray for the kingdom of God to be established in every family of Nigeria. We also pray for the health and wealth of Nigeria. Humble and fervent women who believe in God’s supremacy over all situations have been coming to invest their time and energy to see Nigeria being restored to wellness.

No doubt Nigeria is a nation after God’s heart, a dear project He cannot abandon. Or how can one explain that Nigeria still stands as an emerging great and formidable giant despite the diverse challenges she is weathering. It is unexplainable.

The divine favour, honour and grace over Nigeria are no more in doubt. Gradually, the Octopus is shrinking and its tentacles are losing hold – alleluyah!!

Here comes the reason for my story. Mother of Nations Intercessory Group is celebrating its first anniversary with thanksgiving service for God’s intervention and visitation in the situations confronting Nigeria. God has never lost any battle; we believe He shall not start with Nigeria.

In this time and season when trouble seems to surround the world; If it is not a failing economy, It is a failing business; marriages are failing and failing health is a challenge to many.

I am of the opinion that when knowledge is applied, solution is proffered also.

The kings who were against Jehoshaphat were strong, prosperous and powerful kings with the right ammunition for war but they destroyed themselves with their weapons as Judah sang praise to God. Paul and Silas sang in the prison and they were set free.

In the midst of these overwhelming problems, don’t you think you should apply the prescription that worked for Jehoshaphat, Paul and Silas and even me as God as promised to deliver us?

Come let us humble ourselves, praise Him excitingly. This is the only thing God cannot do for Himself. Why not let’s give it to him and see how He will divinely do away with every of our overwhelming problems as a nation and as an individual.

We invite men and women who believe with us that God is more than enough to turn our challenges/trials to testimony while our weakness is turned to strength to the amazement of the world, to come celebrate with us.

For our celebration, we have lined up programmes. The presiding Pastor of Exodus Evangelical Ministry, Pastor (Mrs.) Ruth Essien, is our Special Guest Speaker for the day. An anointed teacher of the word, who is known for leading women to serve God with delight in this end time, she is equally blessed with powerful deliverance ministration with proofs. She is going to speak to us on, ‘The diversity of a woman.”
